The Prokofiev Challenge
Entries by 10 September
This year, SIFFA is marking a milestone: 135 years since the birth of Sergei Prokofiev. To celebrate, we’re calling on filmmakers all over the world to use your creativity, enthusiasm and skill to create something magical.
The challenge
The idea is simple. Listen to his music. Choose a single passage, more than two but less than three minutes long, and make a short film with that passage as its soundtrack.
From there, the imagery is entirely yours. You can:
- shoot your own footage,
- download copyright-free video or stills from the web,
- create your own artwork,
- write and film a short drama, or
- draw animation sequences.
You can also use AI to create some sequences, but these must not make up more than 20% of the overall film. Apart from that, there are no restrictions. Make it on your own or as part of a team, whatever helps you best achieve your vision.
How to enter
Please submit your entry by 10 September. Use the “Submit your film” button to send us your film or a link to it.
A single session during the Festival will be dedicated to showing the entries.
The showcase
At that event, we’ll host an international online session with the filmmakers to showcase and discuss your films. It’s a chance for filmmakers across the world to meet other creative souls, forge friendships, and hopefully work together on future projects.
